Biography: Dr. Yana DI obtained BSc and PhD from the School of Mathematical Sciences at Peking University. She joined the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific/Engineering Computing at the Chinese Academy of Sciences after she conducted postdoctoral research at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and later worked in the Department of Mathematics at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm for two years. Currently, she is working in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC). Her research mainly focuses on designing and constructing efficient, stable, and reliable adaptive finite element algorithms and model reduction algorithms for nonlinear partial differential equation systems that appear in computational fluid dynamics.

Abstract: AFEPack is a general-purpose C++ library for numerical solutions of partial differential equations. With over two decades of development, AFEPack has been successfully applied for scientific and engineering computational problems in a variety of areas. In this talk, design philosophy of the library, algorithms and data structures used in the discretization of governing equations, numerical linear algebra for the discretized system, as well as the pre-processing and post-processing of the simulations, will be described for the AFEPack. The realization of two main features of the library, i.e., adaptive mesh methods and parallel computing, will be introduced in detail.
